Dario Rodrigues, PhD
Dario de Oliveira Rodrigues, 59, saw his engagement with the academic world unfold later in his career. He obtained his doctorate in Management from Universidade Lusíada in 2012 and was recognized as a Specialist in Marketing by the Polytechnic Institutes of Santarém, Tomar, and Portalegre in 2013. He is an Adjunct Professor at the Higher School of Management and Technology (ESGT) of the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém (IPSantarém) and the Marketing & HR Department coordinator.
Before becoming a management and marketing professor (1998), he spent 16 years in the marketing department of the multinational pharmaceutical company Schering AG (now Bayer AG) in Lisbon and Berlin, pioneering the roles of e-Business Manager and Corporate Communication Manager in the Portuguese subsidiary.
Before that, he practiced surfing, was a taxi driver, served in the Portuguese Navy, and carried out several commercial jobs in various fields.
He has written several books and articles on marketing management, e-business, and cyber ethics. In recent years, he has been researching the ethical and political-economic implications of Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT), particularly blockchain, considering both these technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI) potential disruptors of the democratic system.
His work has been featured in event proceedings and received awards and prizes. He has also collaborated with 13 other professionals to co-author scientific works.
Key themes in his research and writing include pharmaceutical marketing, a concept he introduced called “manifold marketing,” cyber ethics, e-business, blockchain, and artificial intelligence.
